Applied Materials builds the equipment semiconductors are manufactured on. I spent the summer in the Automation Technology Group, the team responsible for automating how that equipment is built, inspected and tested.
I worked across the Metal Deposition, Etch and Dielectric Deposition product groups, including in the cleanroom.

Machine-vision inspection system
Designed and prototyped a fixture in Autodesk Inventor for automated lift-pin alignment inspection on three Metal Deposition chamber variants, with self-locking camera positioning, 120-degree indexing using ball plungers, dovetail interfaces, controlled lighting and tolerance analysis, and developed the two-stage Neuro-T workflow (object detection, then image classification) that makes the pass/fail decision. Created the drawings and BOM, ordered the components and released the design through Teamcenter.

Cobot leak-test cell and end-effector rack
Programmed and validated a Universal Robots collaborative robot in RoboDK for automated leak testing, confirming reachability and collision-free paths, then installed it in the cell: equipment layout, precision mounting and DIN rail installation. Designed and installed a compact rack supporting automated changes across 8 end effectors, with resin-printed mounting hardware and transparent safety guarding.

AMR deployment
Supported deployment and validation of autonomous mobile robots for cleanroom material handling: 10+ test runs, safety signage and navigation markings, clear transport routes, and coordination with operations teams.

Automated quality logging
Integrated pressure-decay testers with Tulip Edge Devices using Node-RED for the Etch and Dielectric Deposition product groups, replacing paper-based quality records with automated data logging.
